Old Friends and Serendipity

I’ve heard it said that you never have time for the things you don’t want to do.  Someone mentioned to me that when they retired, they had a list of things they were going to do (or do more of) when they retired.

And suddenly when they had the time, they still didn’t find time to do them.

Whiteout

Day three of retirement, and we’re having Snowmaggedon, a Bomb Cyclone, or whatever catchy name they want to call a huge Nor’easter in New England.  Heavy snowfall, high winds that swirl like a hurricane.

A complete whiteout.

A Near Miss

Yesterday was Retirement Day Two.  I’m still kind of in shock.  My schedule has been completely upended.  I’m not sure what day it is.  I’m not quite sure what to do with myself yet.  And it still feels like I’m on vacation.

Except I know I’m not.

A Jumble of Emotions

Yesterday was my first day not going to the office.  Well, sort of, anyway.  I actually did go to the office…to turn in my laptop, phone, ID badge, and credit card.  Except this time I couldn’t go in.  I’ve already been erased from the system.  My name already says “presence unknown” in the corporate chat tool.

How do I feel?  A jumble of emotions.  Just like life.
