A Clean Slate – Like Freshly Fallen Snow

It was an unexpected surprise.  Snow falling when the prediction was partly cloudy. I watched it meander gently down, as a silent hush fell over the earth.

And my soul quieted as well.

There’s something beautiful about snow, isn’t there?  Its pure whiteness covers the brown and grey earth.  The leaves that somehow blew back in the yard, the dead garden.  It coats the tree branches like frosting, making everything look like Sugar Plum Fairy Land in the Nutcracker.

The freshly fallen snow, in all its sparkling beauty, reminds me that each day is fresh with possibility.  Adventure.  Exploration.  And today I realized something – I don’t have to wait for the snow to inspire me to explore.  Start anew.  Look at things differently.  I can declare today a “snow day”. You know, like a snow day from school. An unexpected gift of time.  Time for a clean slate.  New perspective.  An adventure.

You in?  Ready to declare today a snow day?  It doesn’t matter if you live in Maine, Montana, or Mexico.  Because this snow day doesn’t depend on actual snow.  So declare a snow day today.

What are you going to do with your snow day?  Share in the comments.
