What Would You Do if You Weren’t Afraid?

On podcast episode 108, I talked about fear as the one ring that often rules the artisan’s life.  Despite our attempts to ignore it or push it out of the way, it sits there and festers inside.  Feeding on our attempts to ignore it.  It’s only when we face the fear that it loses its bite.  Embracing, or dancing with that fear, robs it of its power.

But it’s not as simple as that, is it?

Episode 108: The Artisan Life – One Ring to Rule Them All

The Lord of the Rings trilogy starts with these words: “…One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them…”  That ring, the ring of power, was the cause of untold destruction, and also forged heroes out of humble hobbits.  On this episode we’re talking about the One Ring in the Artisan’s Life.  Not the ring of power.  The ring of fear.

When I Think of You, I See This

Last week was a struggle for me.  With sleep.  With feeling like I didn’t matter.  That my life didn’t matter.  And every day I’d get up and pray.  Ask God to help me see and feel his love in a deeper way.  Then I’d ask myself, “What if today was the last day of my life?  Would I want to spend it like this?  Would I want to waste it feeling this way?”

I realized the answer was no.  So now what?

Episode 107: The Artisan Life – Seal Creativity With a KIS

It’s tempting to add features or embellishments to our art.  What we make.  But true creativity is often shown in its simplicity.  Because when you strip something down, the true quality is revealed.  On this episode, we talk together about sealing your creativity with a KIS.
