Episode 095: The Foundations of Craftsmanship

We’ve spent some time talking about what it means to be an Artisan.  To make it easy to understand, I told you there were three C’s that marked an Artisan: craftsmanship, creativity, and community.  Today we’ll dig deeper into Craftsmanship.  You’ll learn that there are three support structures upon which craftsmanship is built.  Not only that, but I’ll talk about picking raspberries, seeing, and CCO.  (You’ll find out what that is when you listen.)

The Best Blueberries Are in the Next Row

I was picking blueberries at the farm when I get my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box.  “Go between rows 5 and 6.  The bushes are full and they are my favorite kind. Smooth as butter and fantastic flavor.”  That’s what the farmer said as I headed out.

(c) Kathleen Thompson. Between rows 5 & 6.

He was right.  The bushes were loaded with berries.

Unexpected – Pain Spreads When You Tighten Down

Unexpected Mini-Series – part 6

You know how I told you in my last post how I dislocated my ribs with the lopping shears – and they’ve popped back out again twice?  The pain has been sharp and strong.  And sometimes more dull.  It really is getting better.  But something’s slowing the healing process.

I keep tightening down.

Unexpected – A Dumb Move…and OW!

Unexpected Mini-series – part 5

After one of the nights where I didn’t sleep, I decided to go outside and work in the yard.  “Why on earth would you do that after no sleep?” you might ask.  Well, because I figured if I exercised more, I’d be more likely to fall asleep.  That’s usually the case.  And it was a beautiful day.

So out I went.

Unexpected – When What You Fear…Happens

“Unexpected” mini-series – part 4

You heard in the 3 previous blog posts about how my friend Ruth and I had the opportunity to hear Sandi Patty at Carnegie Hall.  The fun we had in New York, and how great the concert was.  You also heard about how I didn’t sleep at all the night after the concert, and cancelled my trip to LA, where I was supposed to have a voice lesson.  How I was both disappointed, and experienced joy and blessing in the day when I was supposed to be in LA.

But that isn’t the end of the story.

Episode 094: What’s Your Signature Scent?

Whether you know it or not, you have a signature scent.  It’s not your perfume or after-shave.  It’s the emotions you come in the door with.  And that linger when you’ve left.  How to know what your signature scent is, and change it if it isn’t as sweet-smelling if you’d like.

Unexpected – Disappointment

"Unexpected" mini-series - part 3

You heard in Parts 1 and 2 about the wonderful opportunity I had to see Sandi Patty at Carnegie Hall in New York.  How Ruth and I got seats in the front row, even though we got to the theater later than we planned.  The fun we had walking through the city.  Unexpected opportunity and blessings.

A wonderful day.

Unexpected – So Many Blessings

“Unexpected” mini-series – part 2

In Part 1, you heard about the unexpected opportunity my friend Ruth and I had to see Sandi Patty at Carnegie Hall in New York.  Even though we bought the tickets about 2 weeks before the concert, they were General Admission, so we weren’t necessarily stuck with a seat at the very top of the hall.  We were already feeling blessed just to attend the concert.

And then this happened.

Episode 093: Where to Start as an Artisan? With a MAP.

You want to create.  Want to live a life as an Artisan.  But how do you start?  Or if you already started, how do you know you’re on the right path?  With a MAP.  Not a roadmap that anyone can follow.  This is a special kind of MAP.  One you create for yourself.  On this episode, we’ll talk about what’s on this Artisan MAP.
