Rhythm of Life – Update On My Purge Efforts
As I discussed in Episode 33, my intention at the beginning of the year was to do a clear-out of “stuff” that had collected in my house. Here’s an update on how it’s going.
First, I set aside time to chip away at one priority area that needed clearing: the piles of paper that had been accumulating over a 2-year period. Then I sorted into piles: save, throw away, follow up on.
I kept going until every piece of paper was in the appropriate pile. When I was done, I ended up with three trash bags of paper; the rest was either filed or archived.
I learned some lessons from this experience, the least of which was don’t wait until the beginning of the year or Spring cleaning to purge. Clean space allows for more creativity and, if attacked in small bursts on a consistent basis, can be quick and easy to address. Set aside time on a regular basis to deal with your problem areas so that it doesn’t get out of control.

Random Riffs – Light Bulb Musings and “Aha!” Moments
In a random free moment, I started thinking about how many catch phrases there are that include the light bulb, like…”Life is like a light bulb…we’re the ones who control the switch.” Or…”He’s not the brightest bulb on the tree.”
And, we’ve all heard the typical lightbulb jokes, like….”How many consultants does it take to change a lightbulb? –We don’t know. They never get past the feasibility study.”
Just think – if Thomas Edison hadn’t invented the light bulb, we’d not only be sitting in the dark, but we also wouldn’t have all these great light bulb jokes!
