You Don’t Have to Wait ‘til the New Year

I turned on the light next to my bed, pulled out my pad, and began to write.  Morning Pages.  Something I haven’t done for a while.  I got caught up in other things.  And here I am starting fresh.  With a blank piece of paper and my favorite pen…glad that I can start new anytime I want.  I don’t have to wait until New Year’s Day.

And neither do you.

The light comes up on a new day – every day.

You can change your mind.  Change your heart.  Change your attitude.  Change your environment.  Change your diet.  Any day.  Any time.  Like now.

And you want to know the best part?  If you set your mind to start something today and then fail 3 days from now, you can simply start again.  With another new day.  Another new minute.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  -Lamentations 3: 22-23

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve not done something you meant to do.  Or done something you didn’t want to do.  Or stopped doing something you used to do.  Today is a new day.  A mew moment.  A new mercy.

So don’t wait until January 1st.  Start anytime.  There’s no time like today.
